“The Basket,” Issue 1

“The Basket,” Issue 1

In "The Basket"

April 21, 2020

Some of my favorite people on the internet have put together a small zine called “The Basket,” in homage to our commonly beloved podcast The Relentless Picnic. I would certainly fail to accurately describe the podcast itself (their tagline: “Inquiry. Travesty. Not like other podcasts.”) but I can confidently say the community that’s gathered around it feels both diverse and remarkably close-knit; the only thing we all have absolutely in common is an appreciation for a certain caliber of conversation among friends. I have contributed a self-portrait and a short piece of personal writing to the first issue of “The Basket,” which is available here as a free PDF. The loose theme is “cosmos, space, the void.” Enjoy.

Blonde Mom, "Tangerine"

January 02, 2020

I had the pleasure of creating the artwork for the album Tangerine by Blonde Mom, a solo project by Atlanta-based composer & producer Andrew Olson. The pop songs retain an artisanal quality despite their electronic production, so it made sense to represent them with a physical oil painting. The album is available to stream everywhere; listen here on Spotify.

"The Artist as Muse" Exhibition at Gutstein Gallery

July 31, 2019

Three of my paintings are included in the group exhibition “The Artist as Muse,” on view at Gutstein Gallery in Savannah, GA from Thursday, August 1 to Saturday, October 5, 2019.

From SCAD.edu: “The timeless subject of the artist self-portrait is explored across a range of mediums in this group exhibition featuring work by contemporary artists and SCAD students and alumni. The artworks on view go beyond representations of artist likeness, using the artist-self as a starting point to interrogate issues such as ego, labor, technology, identity politics and family. These artists probe the question of what defines self-portraiture within the limitless domain of contemporary art.”
